Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

RYLA is an intensive leadership experience designed to encourage students to be more effective servant leaders.  Action-packed activities, like problem solving games, challenge course, group discussions and team-building activities, help participants build confidence and leadership skills.  These activities are conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect and are designed to assist students to:

  • Build communication and problem-solving skills
  • Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
  • Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
  • Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
  • Have fun and form lasting friendships

Many participants have said, “It was the best week of my life!”

The 2020 RYLA Camp will be held May 31 – June 4, 2020 at Southwestern College.  The Rotary Club of Derby sponsors three Derby High School students to participate in this all-expense paid five-day leadership camp.  High school freshman, sophomores and juniors (2019-20 school year) may apply by contacting the principal’s office.
