Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
RYLA is an intensive leadership experience designed to encourage students to be more effective servant leaders. Action-packed activities, like problem solving games, challenge course, group discussions and team-building activities, help participants build confidence and leadership skills. These activities are conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect and are designed to assist students to:
- Build communication and problem-solving skills
- Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
- Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
- Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
- Have fun and form lasting friendships
Many participants have said, “It was the best week of my life!”
The 2024 RYLA Camp will be held May 28-31 at Southwestern College. The Rotary Club of Derby sponsors two Derby High School students to participate in this all-expense paid four-day leadership camp. High school freshman, sophomores and juniors may apply by contacting the principal’s office.
